Check out this column by Terence Moore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Moore says it's not a stretch to say Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones is comparable to Mickey Mantle, and that in a few years Jones will be known as baseball's greatest switch-hitter. Ever.
Please.
This is like comparing a high school art teacher to Michelangelo.
Mickey Mantle replaced Joe DiMaggio in center field for the New York Yankees and became an ever greater player than Joe D. Who did Chipper Jones replace? Terry Pendleton?
To elaborate even more and go into some diatribe would be a waste of time and would be disrespectful to Mantle's place in the game. Mickey Mantle is in a class by himself and always will be.
