The Mets finally fired Willie Randolph -- in the middle of the night, at 3:14 a.m. EDT, to be exact.
Whether Randolph should have been fired is an argument that has merit on both sides. But that's not the issue right now.
The issue is the embarrassing way in which the Mets did it. My feelings are pretty much summed up by my good friend Mike Vaccaro, sports columnist for the New York Post, in this piece.
